Greater Los Angeles, CA March 25, 2019 – The Greater Los Angeles Indivisible Coalition announced today that they are endorsing Loraine Lundquist for LA City Council District 12. The coalition supports Lundquist for her stance on critical issues that affect our local communities. She was with Indivisible in their electoral actions as they worked to elect Katie Hill to Congress and Christy Smith to State Assembly. Loraine follows on the heels of this tremendous grassroots movement that is effecting change in our nation. Her campaign does not serve the interests of special interest groups as she will not take any money from corporations.

“Indivisible Groups of CD-12 proudly endorse Loraine Lundquist for City Council. As a steering committee member of The Resistance Northridge-Indivisible and a liaison with State Strong, she has been instrumental in helping our groups navigate legislative priorities. She exemplifies the values and policies that we stand for,” stated The Resistance Northridge Indivisible. “We have marched shoulder to shoulder with her and knocked on doors to effect change in our nation. As an expert in policy, Lundquist has been an educator to our community to bring understanding to critical ballot measures. Loraine Lundquist is the change that we need in City Hall.”

Indivisible groups in Greater Los Angeles have been out in force, marching and advocating for critical issues such as the homelessness, education, environmental issues, and shutting down Aliso Canyon once and for all. Loraine Lundquist has been at the forefront of these critical issues.

“I am honored to be endorsed by this coalition of Indivisible groups and to continue in this tremendous movement to elect regular citizens,” stated Loraine Lundquist. “As a scientist, educator, community advocate, and mom, I am running first and foremost to protect future generations from the current climate crisis. Los Angeles is in a unique position to provide leadership for cities around the world to show how we can simultaneously green our economy, generate jobs, and create livable communities. “

As a scientist and CSUN Professor with a Ph.D. in Physics from UC Berkeley, Dr Loraine Lundquist knows how to dig into the details of issues and weigh complex solutions. She has served as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Academy of the Sciences, and also as a research scientist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Currently she is a professor focused on climate solutions and sustainability at Cal State University Northridge.

Lundquist stated her top three priorities if elected will be delivering a Green New Deal for Los Angeles, fighting against homelessness, and increasing access to city services while making government more efficient, transparent and accountable.

About Indivisible

Launched after Donald Trump’s election, Indivisible became a nationwide movement of thousands of volunteer-led local groups that engage in progressive advocacy and electoral work at the local, state, and national level.

Our Vision

A diverse, progressive movement of constituents builds power across the country by organizing locally, developing and remaking civic institutions, building consciousness and solidarity, and forming strong partnerships and coalitions. We hold the Democratic Party accountable for championing progressive values and hold government accountable to the needs of all of its constituents. We change the conversation about our country’s values and ultimately take power in government at every level to make it responsive to those values.
