I've been fighting for people's rights since the Vietnam War. I wasnt old enough to vote then because the voting age was 21.
By the time the voting age was lowered to 18 I was already 20. My first time voting was in the1972 presidential election where I voted for George McGovern against Richard Nixon.
I felt empowered voting. Didn’t like losing and liked Nixon even less. When the Watergate incident happened I began following politics more closely. Got bit by the political bug and when Jimmy Carter ran for president I began to volunteer. I've volunteered in some Democratic capacity in every election since.
And I still feel empowered when I vote.
